March 2020
What a change we have had in our lives; the Coronavirus COVID-19 is very concerning and certainly different to what we have experienced before!
We are doing our very best to keep the virus out of the facility as we remain on lock down. Our caring staff will do all that is necessary to our very best ability to keep your loved ones safe whilst trying our utmost to keep ourselves and our families safe at home from the virus too. We must all pull together on this and hope it does not go on for too long.

On a more cherry note we welcome our new residents, Ivan “Ross” Roulston and Bruce Scott - we hope they will both be very happy here with us in their new home. Rest assured the new residents that have come in have been deemed safe to do so.
Sadly, we said goodbye to Robin Wilkins who has moved to another facility and to Jack Peden who has moved to Raglan Rest Home, a facility close to his family. We hope they will be happy in their new homes. We always enjoy having our respite residents which gives our ‘family’ someone new to socialise with.
Congratulations go to Brian Duncan who celebrated his 90th Birthday on 12th and David Shrimpton on the 27th. Happy Birthday to you both. Brian and Floss celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary on 21st March, such wonderful milestone – Congratulations! It has been hard for these residents as they were unable to have family and friends come in and celebrate with them due to the lock down, but they are always spoilt here with a cake from our kitchen to have with everyone for morning tea.
Welcome to our new staff member, Rita.
We were entertained by Glen Carley for our surprise lunch on 17th March on St Patricks Day, when we had takeaway fish and chips followed by a green fluffy jelly pudding with kiwi fruit. There are many photos below from the wonderful occasion.
Our staff are making sure our residents are getting some fresh air and sunshine, sitting outside, having walks and participating in some games outside.
We are unable to have our church services, David who does the quiz mornings or our weekend entertainers come in. We are showing DVD movies on the weekend mornings.
Please keep safe out there in your ‘bubble’
Regards from Jennifer Slement and all at Brylyn.
