Where did February go, it is hard to believe two months have passed already! We are well into the new year. Summer has been good with wonderful hot days although some rain would be most welcome.
We had two birthdays this month, Pat Smith on the 18th and Stuart Meha on the 5th who was in for respite with a cake baked from our kitchen.
We celebrated St Valentine’s Day with heart chocolates for the ladies and a special cake and drinks for all. There was also a valentine’s craft morning.
Judy Holdsmith came on the 17th from ‘Friends of Hamilton Gardens’ to talk about the volunteers who help at the gardens there, people who give their time willingly.
Mike from ‘Our Patch’ came in on the 27th to talk on Lavender growing and about the products him and his wife make and sell from their lavender farm. He had some of the products to show the residents.
There was a van outing on the afternoon of the 27th where some of our residents went to Hamilton Lake to feed the ducks after which they had a drive in the country.
We were entertained by Glen Carley who played his guitar and sang country and western and songs from the sixties (which was a great hit with our residents) when we had our second summer BBQ held on the 28th.
Our weekend entertainers were Charlie, Peter, Roy, George and Louise.
Thanks again to our regular volunteers to whom we are most grateful for the time they give to us - Reg and his team who come in to take our Church Service fortnightly with David taking a service in the week in between. David also does a quiz session with the residents.
Again, if there is anyone who would like to offer their time here at Brylyn please pop in or give us a call. Perhaps you or someone you know would like to give a talk to our residents on something interesting you have done in your life or in your profession, or can entertain us in any way with music, dance or maybe even help with an activity - we would love to hear from you as always.
Regards from Jennifer Slement and all at Brylyn.
