Birthdays we celebrated this month were for Joyce Park, Robyn Coleman and Olive Begley. Cakes were baked in our kitchen and enjoyed by all. Thank you to Yvonne and Lynton for your donation and for making Olive’s birthday extra special.
Sadly Daisy Peta passed away, our condolences to her family from all of us here at Brylyn.
Congratulations to Thelma who is no one of our Registered Nurses so will no longer be doing caregiver duties. Welcome to two new staff members, Miranda, caregiver, and Sireena, chef.
It has been a busy month all round as we celebrated the start of spring, Father’s Day and of course the Rugby World Cup, here’s hoping the All Blacks can pull off a third win!
Edwina came in on the 19th with a lovely range of reasonable beaded jewellery items to sell.
The residents had an evening of music on the 20th when a student sang and other students played the piano.
Some of our residents went out for a van drive to Huntly and the lake on the 5th, then to McDonalds for ice cream cones, and on through Glenafton, Pukemiro and Glen Massey - they always enjoy venturing out and especially drives in the countryside. Our 2nd bus trip on the 27th, the residents went to Hamilton Gardens but as it was raining they could not get out so drove around Hamilton Lake, then popped into Burger King for a snack and finally home.
Entertainers who came in this month Saturday and Sundays were Peter, James, Warren, Louise, Charlie, George and Roy. Tame and a friend came in one week day and gave us a wonderful performance playing the guitar and singing. Tipene and his wife entertained this month for the happy hour. Thank you to all.
We have our ‘regulars’ who give their time willingly, we are always grateful for their services.
If there is anyone who would like to offer their time here at Brylyn please pop in or give us a call, perhaps you or someone you know would like to give a talk to our residents on something interesting you have done in your life or in your profession, or entertain us in any way with music or maybe even help with an activity - we would love to see you.
It was getting lighter in the early mornings before daylight savings but am sure you are enjoying the evenings with the change. The blossom trees make such a wonderful show this time of the year and gardens are beginning to look colourful too. Roll on summer!
Until next month,
Regards from Jennifer Slement and all at Brylyn
